Two Lives by Vikram Seth is a story about the marriage of
Shanti and Helga two people from different cultures and
backgrounds. The book follows their lives from when they
first met in Berlin to their immigration to Britain and
eventual marriage in 1948. The story is a reflection of
the challenges and triumphs of their union and the life
they built together. The book was published by Abacus in
2006 and is written by the multi-talented author poet
librettist and travel writer Vikram Seth who is also known
for winning the W.H. Smith Literary Award and the
Commonwealth Writers Prize for his novel A Suitable Boy.
