Dreams From my Father by Barack Obama This memoir of
Barack Obamas childhood and first few years after college
is divided into three sections: Origins Chicago and Kenya.
The son of a black African father and a white American
mother Obama searches for a way that he can come to terms
with his life as a mixed race individual. While in his
college years in New York he receives a call from his Aunt
in Africa telling him that his father- someone he barely
knows at all due to his absence from his life- has been
killed in a car accident. This inspires in him a journey
of emotions to travel to Kenya where he meets the African
side of his family. He sees how differently he has lived
his life in the United States compared to how his
relatives live their lives in Africa. Dreams From my
Father is one of two books written by Barack Obama elected
44th President of the United States. He is also the author
of The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the
American Dream both New York Times bestsellers. He is the
winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
